Moa Sjöstedt, Under the Skin of the World I found Fables
27.10. - 16.12. 2023

December 16, 14h to 17h: Apéro with artist present

In the exhibition ”Under the skin of the world I found fables” Moa Sjöstedt shows a series of ink and gouache drawings on paper made between 2017 and 2019. The drawings (re)construct the skeleton of suffocated wrath as a part of an architecture of oppression within patriarchy. In her artistic practice, Moa creates worlds in which visceral, affective and physical aspects of life become tangible. Her paintings, drawings and texts are relics from these worlds.

Moa Sjöstedt lives and works in Basel. She graduated with an Master Degree in Fine Arts from the Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst in 2022 (Institut Art Gender Nature). She grew up in the outskirts of Göteborg, Sweden. Moa has perviously collaborated with artists Hanna Wildow, Katarina Bonnevier and art & design collective MYCKET at institutions such as Göteborg International Biennal for Contemporary  Art (GIBCA, SE), ArkDes (SE) and Unga Klara (SE). Her work has been presented in Villa Renata (CH) Kunsthaus Baselland (CH), Hangmen Projects (SE), Detroit Gallery (SE), Nordic Summer University (LIT), the Swedish Embassy (USA) as well as in the public space exhibition ”Inklusiv Arlesheim”(CH).
