Although the same world surrounds us, each individual perceives it differently. Not everyone notices visual moments in everyday life like play of light and shadows on walls or a rainbow reflection between a table and a window. Also, picturesque-philosophical moments that reveal themselves in puddles after the weather changes do not catch everyone's eye. Such visual moments are rarely long-lasting. They dissipate quickly, just like a thought vanishes, or an association dissolve.

Angelika Schori engages with the findings in visual perception, philosophy and phenomenology in her work. She aims to capture such ephemeral moments in her work and preserves them for the audience. Schori's artistic practice is a profound reflection on individual perception and its significance in everyday life. She aims to highlight the beauty in the inconspicuous and underscores the uniqueness with which each person experiences the surrounding world. Her work encourages viewers to consciously perceive and appreciate the fleeting aesthetic moments in their own lives.

Schori's works address the limited perspectives of our perception and encourage questioning established notions and viewpoints. They emphasize how our view of the world is always shaped and limited by our individual standpoint and invite us to consider things from different perspectives. She reminds us that in the quiet of everyday life lies a world full of subtle beauty and significance, waiting to be discovered and appreciated. Through her works, which often include elements of painting, these invisible dimensions are revealed to us, and we learn to view the world not just superficially, but in its full depth.

Angelika Schori received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2010 from the FHNW/HGK (School of Fine Arts) in Basel, where she also completed her MFA in 2014, both with Prof. Renée Levi. She has exhibited extensively in Switzerland, Germany France and the United States in group and solo shows. She lives and works in Basel.
